Empowering Women and Building Porgera’s Future
Porgera District Women’s Association (PDWA) is a grassroots organization established in 1989 to empower women, youths, and children in Porgera through social and economic development programs.
Committed and Determined
The Porgera District Women’s Association (PDWA) is a community-based organization established in 1989 to represent and empower women, youths, and children of Porgera District. Through its extensive network of local women’s groups, PDWA promotes social and economic development by delivering programs in education, health, agriculture, life skills, and leadership training.
For more than 30 years, PDWA has worked in close partnership with the Porgera Joint Venture (PJV), government agencies, and community organizations to improve the quality of life for families in Porgera and surrounding areas.

The Porgera District Women’s Association is guided by a strong purpose. We exist to help women, youths, and children in our communities live better lives. We believe that when women are supported, trained, and included in decision-making, families and communities become stronger. Everything we do is focused on empowering women to take part in social, economic, and community development. Our vision, mission, objectives, and programs show the direction we are moving and the goals we are working hard to achieve.
